Michael Fassbender And ALicia VIkander Met On The Dancefloor
Michael Fassbender first met his girlfriend Alicia Vikander when she showed him up on the dancefloor.
The X-Men actor began dating the Swedish actress in 2014 while they were filming upcoming drama The Light Between Oceans. While it has been reported they met on the set, they actually first encountered each other on the dancefloor following film events, when Alicia, who trained to be a ballerina, put his dancing skills to shame.
"We had met at Toronto Film Festival and the BAFTAs, just on the dance floor," Alicia explains to ETOnline.com. Continuing the interview, reporter Carly Steel says to Michael that she's seen him grooving and he's a good dancer, to which the star replies, "I thought that too until she started dancing and then I felt like I had two left feet."
The pair met properly for rehearsals for the film and Michael, 39, admits they didn't have to work hard to achieve the chemistry needed to play a couple because "it was sort of there from the beginning".
The film, about a couple who discover an abandoned child and informally adopt her, appears to be an emotionally intense drama fit for awards season, but the cast kept the tone light by dancing to keep themselves warm and playing with BB guns inside the make-up shed.
"We had the headshots of everybody on the wall and we were shooting them," Michael adds. "And we had a lot of good music dancing in the morning."
The couple are notoriously private and rarely discuss their relationship or appear together at red carpet events. However, Alicia, 27, kissed him during the 2016 Oscars in March (16) when she was named winner of the Best Supporting Actress prize for The Danish Girl.
The Light Between Oceans is released in the U.S. on 2 September (16) but doesn't reach U.K. theatres until November (16).
