#VanessaHudgens Blasted By Fans Over Dreamcatcher Hair Accessory
Actress Vanessa Hudgens has been accused of cultural appropriation by her fans due to her latest Instagram picture.
The former High School Musical star posted a picture to the photo sharing site of her looking off to the side with her dark hair styled in her natural curls.
The 27-year-old added a purple dreamcatcher to her locks, completing her boho ensemble, but the move angered many of her fans, who believed she was appropriating Native American culture.
"Why are you like this???" one user commented. "You constantly go out of your way to disrespect cultures to look ~boho. It's rude as f**k. Don't put dreamcatchers in your hair! That you have to constantly be told not to do this and dragged means you are not listening and it's frustrating af!!"
Another fan agreed, writing: "PREACH. I love her and all but it's culture not costume or whatever."
While some fans came to Vanessa's defence, insisting she looked beautiful in the snap, it isn't the first time the actress has been accused of cultural appropriation.
Back in April 2014, the star shared a photo which showed dust lines from her bindi, and one user felt the need to ask: "Do you even know the significance of a bindi in Hinduism/ Indian Culture?"
Another added: "If you stopped with the cultural appropriation it would be all fine."
Vanessa has opened up about her style in the past, and while many associate her solely with boho chic, she feels like it's a lot more varied.
"Bipolar! It’s all over the place,” she laughed to fashionnstyle.com when asked to describe her dress sense last year (15). “Some days I’m very inspired by the 70s and want to pile on turquoise and dress like a gypsy, and other days I’ll want to wear clean, chic lines, good trousers and blazers. It’s all over the place. I love fashion. It’s fun to mix it up.”
